1. HIV must be present: namely, that HIV can be transmitted only if a person is a carrier of it. Some assume that certain behaviors (such as anal sex) by itself can cause AIDS, which is totally wrong.
2. There must be enough virus: even when there is HIV, how important is the concentration that has it. In the blood the virus is highly concentrated, so a small amount of it is enough to infect someone.
3. HIV must enter the bloodstream: it is not enough to have been in contact with an infected fluid to contract the virus. The skin does not allow HIV to enter the body. HIV can enter only through a new wound or injury, or through contact with mucous membranes.
