Programme of Care for Severe Mental Disorders
Mental Health is not just for seniors. Children, youth and adolescents also suffer from different diseases in a range that covers from the onset of chronic depression to episodes of psychosis or autism.
The Refresher Course in Community Mental Health discussed yesterday this aspect of psychiatry in its closing ceremony held in the auditorium of the Hospital San Agustín. Among the different experiences presented highlighted the Programme of Care for Severe Mental Disorders (TMG) for children from 0 to 14 years that the Children’s Mental Health team has launched a pioneer in Avilés since 2007.
Álvarez and María Eugenia Vigil clinical psychologist explained the program’s activities this year has treated 15 children and the next will increase the number of beneficiaries to 21.

From the beginning, it was suggested the program with a duration of at least two years, community activities and without a static diagnosis, since it can be a range of developments in infant patients. Also set the criteria for inclusion in the program and exclusion.
