There are many advantages to a stairlift. They help enable people suffering from various forms of difficulty or disability that make ascending or descending stairs a problem.

Often, this can be painful or near impossible for the person in question, so the ability to remove this whilst still granting access to the house can be a huge improvement in terms of quality of life.

Renting a Stannah stairlift isn’t a drain on resources. By renting, you can pay in smaller instalments that are much more manageable. It’s understandable that not everyone has the money to throw into such a project, which is where the rental option becomes a vast improvement and advantage.

Renting

Besides a regular rental fee, there is only one up-front payment. This payment covers all the additional costs. This includes the stair-assessment, installation, continued customer support and removal of the lift.

The advantage of this is that, should you no longer need the lift, you don’t have to pay to remove it, nor are there any cancelation fees. By including it up front, this process of stairlift hire removes much of the financial worry.

Stairlift Advantages

Besides the financial benefits, hiring a stairlift still comes with all the benefits of a regular stairlift. First of all, they grant people access to their own homes where they would have had difficulty. This reduces any sense of pain or stress, making the process easy and comfortable; the chair glides up and down the rail allowing you to ascend or descent in relative, painless comfort.

Likewise, through this stress and pain free process, a stairlift stops many people from having to take more drastic alternatives. Many people, whether they are elderly or have some form of medical condition that makes navigating the stairs an issue, can often feel they have to move home, downsizing into a bungalow or somewhere much more accessible.

A stairlift, however, allows you to stay where you are. More than just the simple reasons of staying put, this allows you to maintain a higher sense of independence and freedom.

- Lack of appetite. If the child feels no appetite after taking the medication, give dose after breakfast. – As you probably have no appetite at lunchtime, offset by a good dinner at night. And keep on hand low-calorie nutritious snacks. If anorexia is prolonged, the physician may decide to lower the dose or stop taking the drug on weekends.
- Stomach pain or discomfort. To avoid them, never give the child the medicine on an empty stomach.
- Difficulty sleeping. Set a routine bedtime, including relaxing activities such as reading or bathroom. If the child still not sleeping well, ask your doctor about taking the medication early, reducing the dose or discontinue the dose in the evening to sleep well when you lie down.
- Sleepiness during the day. Ask your doctor if you can give the medicine at bedtime and morning, or maybe lower the dose.
- Rebound. If the medicine is finished in the afternoon or evening, some children even greater symptoms of ADHD. To avoid this, ask your doctor to use a medicine of longer duration, or ask if you can take small doses of a fast-acting stimulant later in the day.
- Changes in mood. Watch the child. If you notice changes such as inability to express themselves emotionally or suicidal thoughts, stopped the medication immediately and alerts the doctor.
- Heart problems. Although rare, there have been cases of serious heart problems due to medication for ADHD. It is therefore essential to talk to the doctor about any history of heart disease in the family, if necessary, to test and watch for any symptoms develop.
- Liver damage. The doctor should ask the child exams and regular blood testing to determine if they are good liver enzymes.

If in doubt, check with your doctor. Do not change dose or stop yourself giving your child the medicine without doctor’s consent. You’ll see that probably with perseverance and patience, the side effects will disappear and the child and you can better cope with the challenge of the disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

But they may cause side effects, which can be mild or very serious. Fortunately, there are ways to control them.

When Martha saw the effects of treatment for ADHD in 6 year old son thought he had the cure been worse than the disease: the child would not eat and to top it began to have a nervous tic that made him feel ridiculous with their peers of school. If before the problem in the classroom was a lack of concentration and continuous movement, now the boy was embarrassed and unhappy. Since the doctor had warned of possible side effects, but still, Martha returned to consulting. The doctor tried to calm concerns with the following reasons:

- Currently available treatments provide good results, but we also face the possible side effects.
- Most of these effects are mild and last only a while.
- To reduce the more severe, doctors start with lower doses of medication, gradually adjusting and grading them.
- It also provided guidance to alleviate the most severe symptoms we share with you later.

Are you familiar the case of Martha and her son? Thousands of children and their families have to deal daily with the treatment and management of ADHD. Perhaps it is the same thing happening to your child. Even with the lower doses, may be suffering some side effects. Although lighter usually disappear on their own, you should talk to your doctor if your notes in your child. If they last more than a month, it is important that the doctor’s knowledge and action.

Side effects depend on the type of medication. There are two main types to treat attention deficit disorder and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD): stimulants and non stimulants. Stimulants include methylphenidate (like Concerta, Focalin, Metadate ER, Ritalin) and amphetamines (like Adderall, Adderall XR). Among the non-stimulant is atomoxetine (Strattera), an antidepressant and an anxiolytic.

Stimulant medications are the best known and most used, and between 70 and 80% of children respond to them positively. Some side effects of these drugs are lack of appetite, problems with growth, irritability, abnormal behavior to the point that the child can not express their emotions. They also may develop tics (excessive blinking, grimacing, head tilt), but often these tics are the result of the disease and the medication only makes them worse.

Some children, however, does not respond well to stimulant medication, and non-responsive to stimulants. These can cause lack of appetite, stomach problems, nausea and drowsiness, but these symptoms usually disappear after the first month of treatment. Although rare, there are other more serious side effects. One is its potential to elevate liver enzymes and cause damage to this important body. You can also slightly accelerated the pulse of the child and raise the blood pressure and cause depression and suicidal thoughts, although such cases are rare.

Autism is a brain disorder that is associated with developmental problems in communication and social interaction. The first signs of autism usually appear 12 to 18 months of age, however, most children are not diagnosed with the disease until preschool age. So far, no known cause of autism.

In a recent study, researchers analyzed data from the study of Genetic and Environmental Risk in infantile autism. Children were assessed between 24 and 60 months of age. Investigations confirmed in 288 children with autism, 141 with autistic spectrum disorder and 278 normal. Data were also collected from the mothers regarding the consumption of prenatal vitamins before and during pregnancy.

Researchers at the University of California at Davis found that children born to mothers who took vitamins before and during pregnancy had a 60 percent greater risk of developing autism. This risk was 4.5 times higher in women who were identified as carrying a high risk gene, specifically MTHFR and COMT genes.

The causes of gene-environment interaction observed are not yet clear to researchers, however, it is known that both the genetic mother and the intake of vitamins affect fetal development. The two genes isolated in this study, MTHFR and COMT affect folate metabolism. And we know that folate intake during pregnancy to prevent birth defects, especially neural tube that becomes the brain and spinal cord of the fetus mature. Researchers have also found that prenatal vitamins prevent a wide range of birth defects, although there is a lack of research linking vitamins with autism.

The researchers hypothesize that there may be a relationship between vitamins and folic acid, but the specific mechanisms responsible for reduced risk of autism remain unknown. Moreover, given the complexity of factors that affect fetal development, additional replication is required to verify the results of this research.

From birth, your baby looks for ways to communicate with you. Gradually, this language will become more elaborate, until one day, and almost before you know it, your baby call you “Mom.”

Crying is the primary means of communication used when your baby is hungry or sleepy see how it starts to call you immediately. After two months, surely you can hear its infancy (“uh”, “ah,” “eh”). The baby can find that sounds, and from five months will hear his voice in very variadas.Después six months the baby’s language development is expressed through sounds that closely resemble “ma-ma! “and” dada “. Some say that these words are issued by chance and still do not know what they say … but see how you melt with tenderness when you hear for the first time.

When your baby is seven months, you should stimulate him/her more and more, because from now beginning to develop their verbal power potential. That’s when he begins to understand the meaning of words and gestures that make many people around him. Understand when you approve their behavior and celebrate it when their faces, gestures and facial expressions.

It is important to try to develop a much broader communication with him. Invent a sign to eat, sleep, or bathe, repeat them constantly and see how he can gradually understand. The communication will become more fluid and it is important to stimulate them in this way to develop their language.

At eight months, your baby will probably recognize as your name, and from the nine, with a few gestures and their hands, you can express exactly what you want, as you reach a toy or pacifier (pacifier). You will realize that he already may suggest, but do not speak yet!

If you teach, try to tell you how old, will soon learn to show you a finger that says so. Still not talk well, but every day means more. You see how little by little began to add words to their vocabulary.

When he reaches two years, the vocabulary of your baby probably is broad. Know many words, in addition to answer many of your questions. From now start adding more and more words. Even at this age is likely already to sing you. It is estimated that within two years a child should have developed a spoken language of about fifty words. If you want to check, take a sheet of paper and write on a blackboard every word you say… you will be surprised!

Do not forget that every child develops differently language and rhythm, so enjoy the process and takes every step. If in doubt, please consult your pediatrician.

Fever, like irritability, drooling and redness of the baby’s gums have always been considered key symptoms of teething. Research conducted at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil dismisses high fever as a sign of this process as normal in the development of babies, surprising even the authors of the study. Learn about the find and how to relieve the discomforts of teething (when you get the first set of baby teeth).

The first baby teeth begin to sprout baby about 6 months old. Before they sprout, the gums become swollen, red, and the baby begins to show signs of restlessness. Cry, stop eating with pain, increased salivation and drooling and takes everything in their mouths for relief. Many parents have always believed blindly that along with all the above symptoms are fever also added. That is until now.

A new Brazilian study says that while the temperature rises slightly (only a few tenths) during teething, there is no relationship between fever and tooth buds. “The result surprised me,” said Joana Ramos-Jorge, study author and doctoral student at the University of Minas Gerais. “Like much of the population, I also believed that fever could be a sign of tooth buds.”

To study the signs and symptoms of teething, several Brazilian dentists traced the development of 47 infants between 5 and 15 months for 8 months. According to his observations, on the outbreak of the tooth, babies tended to have a runny nose, diarrhea, rash or skin rash, poor appetite, irritability, drooling and difficulty sleeping. Body temperature tended to rise a few tenths from the day of the outbreak until the day after (up to 98.24 degrees Celsius Fahrenheit/36.98). These results will be published in the September issue of Pediatrics.

Dr. Roya Samuels, a pediatrician at Children’s Medical Center Cohen in New York believes that this rise in temperature is still in the normal range so it is not considered a fever. The doctor recommends educating parents and dispel the belief that the high fever associated with teething. She has seen your inquiry reaches parents with infants with fever of 101 degrees F (38-30 degrees C) or more and not caring for achacarla to teething. Has not been shown, said Samuels, high fever which is related to the appearance of the teeth. It is important that parents know so attending pediatrician as soon as possible to find the real cause of the rise in temperature.

Here we tell you what autism is and how you can detect it.

Accustomed to the typical movie scenes in which boys and girls are playing autistic isolated and alone, without uttering a word (to say), as living in their own world, many people are unaware that in reality, autism can presented in different ways. In what world is your child? Are you always isolated, not talk to anyone or disruptive, recurring behavioral problems and it seems that he does not listen? Both situations can be a sign of the same disorder called autism.

Autism is a developmental disorder that appears in the first 3 years of life and affects normal brain development in the area of social skills and communication, and can be difficult to detect. Generally parents are the first to notice that something is not working as it should. And while in most cases it is they who seek professional help when the child or the child is about two years, sometimes autism is detected only when the child enters the school, due to recurrent problems of behavior and communication.

Some parents fear that some vaccines may be responsible for autism. However, it has been shown in several studies that this is not true and that the original study that proposed this theory was a fraud. There is no correlation between vaccines and autism. Vaccines protect your children against infectious diseases. If you are interested in the details that denied the link between vaccines and autirmo, you can find in a previous column here on Life and Health.

Symptoms of autism can manifest not only in different ways, but in different intensities, and sometimes, the development of a child with autism may appear normal at first, in the first 18 to 24 months old and then may suffer a setback. In other words, you lose social skills and speech he had acquired. Growing up, it is possible that some children / as autism do not learn to speak, but others do and to be able to work and communicate without major problems, provided they have the necessary support.

Wondering how you can detect if your child may have this problem? Please note that children with autism typically because their behavior is often inappropriate: they have difficulty when playing with others, relationships with others and how they communicate, whether through speech or sign language.

Every day is a new discovery for them, and from birth, your brain begins to learn at an astonishing rate. Here you tell how babies learn and what you can do to stimulate this process with your creativity and love.

From birth and open their eyes to the world, babies learn. They begin to discover new sensations, sounds, colors, flavors, feel love, feel joy, know that when they are hungry and cry, Mom feeds them, it is the beginning of his journey through life. They are surprised by everything they see and when they are very tiny but can not speak, they are processing information in your brain when you speak, understand. Those sounds that seem to make sense to adults, are the way they communicate. Sooner or later, those “Gaga Gugu” be converted into words.

Since very little, babies can differentiate faces and objects: shapes, sizes and colors. They also know differentiate the voices of parents of other people.

You, as a mom or dad, you’re the first or the first teacher of your baby. Its development is influenced by one hundred percent care and love that you offer and the experiences they share. While most babies receive love, they feel more safe, they can connect fine ideas and information and grow up healthily.

The time share when playing with them is essential, as they interact with you and that is when most learning. Take note of how learning through play:
- Use your face and your voice to make gestures and sounds fun. For babies, your voice and your face are much more interesting than the toys.
- Make movements, gestures and sounds that your baby can imitate. Copy what your baby does and then invite them to do it again. This teaches the concept of taking turns and learn to communicate well.
- Repeat to them again and again. Play repetitive games with them, because that way they practice until they understand how something works.
- Tell stories. Establish reading habits early will help your baby learn in the future. It is also important for the development of language.

Remember that babies love to explore and make your way of doing this is taking things in their mouths. Be careful not to mouth from getting too small because nothing can drown. Cómprales toys that suit their age.
Do not forget that rest is essential for your baby. So you can insert activities and games with naps during the day.

Every baby is different and their response to stimuli also is consistent with his personality. The important thing is that you teach and have fun playing you too.

Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate that one in 88 children are diagnosed with autism in that country. Here we’ll tell you more about what is happening and I remind you of what this disease.
